Melissa Rycroft dumped by The Bachelor, to tie for second place on Dancing With the Stars!
She only had two days to practice for last night’s Dancing With the Stars, yet Melissa Rycroft and her partner Tony Dovolani garnered 23 points from the judges. Shawn Johnson and her partner Mark Ballas also received 23 points. The couple with the highest score on DWTS last night was Giles Marini and Cheryl Burke, performing the cha cha cha.
Last night’s Dancing With the Stars finally confirmed what the Internet already knew. Holly Madison and Melissa Rycroft replaced Jewel and Nancy O’Dell . Is any network secret safe from the Internet?
There are a few celebrities this year on Dancing With the Stars, that seem to have a natural ability. Giles Marini and Cheryl Burke are that couple to watch. They will not be leaving this show very soon.
The biggest surprise on Dancing With the Stars premier, had to be Melissa Rycroft. Melissa had such a short rehearsal time, yet Melissa and her partner Tony hit the dance floor and performed a waltz, that was nothing to sneeze at. Judge Carrie Ann found their performance, “mesmerizing”.
Was Jason Mesnick of The Bachelor even mentioned on DWTS last night? Mesnick was blasted alright, but not by Melissa at all. The kindest thing said about Jason was, he should learn “people skills”.

These two were the last couple to perform last night. I don’t believe that anyone expected Melissa to do as well as she did, with the time constraints working against her. Ms. Rycroft will certainly be in the running on DWTS for more than a couple of weeks. Melissa, you are a natural at this!
There are a few couples that will need a lot of work on their performances, if they want to stay in Dancing With the Stars. The two celebrities that need the most practice are Lawrence Taylor and Steve Wozniak , the man behind Apple computer.
Lawrence Taylor is going to have to be less self conscious dancing. The judges thought that Taylor was rather stiff and needs to loosen up. This football player clearly feels out of his element. With Taylor, it’s more of a mind set that he is going to have to get into.
Steve Wozniak is a very large man and it showed on the dance floor. Where Warren Sapp was big, yet very graceful, last year; Wozniak simply got through his cha cha cha without falling on his partner. Yet, Steve could do well; now that he got past this first performance.
Wozniak is a hell of a nice guy and seems to be having a lot of fun with DTWS. His head is in the right place. Steve just needs to learn how to float across the floor, instead of maybe crashing through it.
David Alan Grier had me in stitches last night! His facial contortions while performing with Kym Johnson, was almost a Marx Brothers routine. I don’t know if Grier was doing this intentionally or what? But, it was funny.
Kym Johnson needs to learn David Alan Grier’s sense of humor style and timing, before she is going to be truly comfortable rehearsing with him. Yet, Grier is going to have to learn Kym Johnson’s timing, if they want to stay in this competition.
And yes, Jewel will be performing one of her songs on Dancing With the Stars! Even though her and Nancy O’Dell are out of this season with injuries sustained during rehearsal, these women were in the audience last night for the moral support.
Holly Madison and her partner Dmitry Chaplin did well with a score of 18 for their cha cha cha. The judges encouraged her to work harder. Holly has been wanting to be on Dancing With the Stars for a long time. Now that she is, you can expect Holly to put her best foot forward this season.
One of the new rules on DWTS this season is: The scores from last night will be added onto the scores from next week. The bottom two couples will dance off against each other, to determine the couple that will be eliminated from Dancing With the Stars.
Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli are still the three judges. Their votes last night did not take into consideration that Holly Madison and Melissa Rycroft had mere days to rehearse. With this consideration in mind, both of these women did extremely well against the other celebrities that had weeks to practice.
This season of Dancing With the Stars should be one of the best seasons this show has ever realized. Next week, we will see who goes home first. One of the main things that I enjoy about DWTS is, everyone seems to have a great time.
